Naan Bread

Naan, oven-baked flatbread. It is typical of and popular in South and Central Asia, and in South Asian restaurants abroad.

Easy to make and quick to bake this is a great side with any good curry dish. For a nice treat brush with butter and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups flour (white bread flour)
  • 1 Tsp yeast
  • 2Tbsp canola oil
  • 4 Tbsp low fat yogurt
  • 1 Tsp honey
  • 1 Tsp salt
  • 3/4 cups warm water

Directions:

  1. Mix yeast with a small portion of the water and stir in honey, set aside.
  2. Mix flour, canola oil, yogurt, salt, and the rest of the warm water.
  3. Once all mixed knead in the yeast mixture.
  4. Let dough rise for 20 minutes.
  5. Preheat oven to 500 degrees F.
  6. Separate the dough into small balls, stretch and flatten the balls and place on a baking sheet.
  7. Cook time 2 1/2 minutes at 500 degrees F.
  8. Brush with butter after cooked.
