Pam’s Famous Scones

A scone is a single-serving quick bread. They are often lightly-sweetened, and are occasionally glazed. The scone is an excellent companion with Tea or a light breakfast.

  • Pre-heat oven to 425F. Continue preparing mixture.
  • In a large bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • Cut in butter until crumbly. Stir in raisins and make a well in the center.
  • In a small bowl, beat egg until frothy. Stir in milk and pour into well.
  • Knead 8 - 1- times.
  • With a rolling pin, roll out to about 1/2" thick.
  • Using a small glass, cut into round shapes.
  • Place on greased baking sheet.
  • Brush tops with milk and sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 425F for 15 minutes until risen and browned slightly.
